ASUS Unveils ZenScreen Color ePaper MP13UC: 13.3-Inch Portable E Ink Display with 35Hz Refresh Rate

ASUS has introduced an unusual new portable monitor aimed at users who spend long hours reading, writing, and working with documents. The new ZenScreen Color ePaper MP13UC combines a high-resolution E Ink color display with the portability of a traditional external monitor.

Featuring a 13.3-inch panel with a sharp 3200 x 2400 resolution and 300 pixels per inch, the display is designed to deliver a paper-like viewing experience while consuming significantly less power than conventional LCD or OLED screens. ASUS says the monitor supports up to 4,096 colors and offers a refresh rate of up to 35Hz, which should provide smoother scrolling and more responsive performance than many existing ePaper displays.

The ZenScreen Color ePaper MP13UC appears to be built around E Ink color technology, making it well-suited for reading, document editing, coding, and other productivity-focused tasks where eye comfort is a priority. Unlike traditional monitors, ePaper displays reflect ambient light rather than emitting their own, helping reduce eye strain during extended use.

ASUS is also promoting its Ghosting-Free technology, which is intended to minimize image retention and improve clarity when navigating content. While high-refresh ePaper displays have become increasingly common, image quality can sometimes be affected at faster refresh rates, making ASUS’s software optimizations an important feature to watch.

The monitor was showcased at Computex 2026 and joins a growing market of portable ePaper displays aimed at professionals, students, and readers seeking an alternative to traditional screens. The device is exceptionally thin and lightweight, making it easy to carry alongside a laptop for a distraction-free secondary display.

ASUS has yet to announce pricing or availability details for the ZenScreen Color ePaper MP13UC.
