Microsoft Unveils Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition Console and Anniversary Controller with Retro Translucent Green Design

Microsoft has officially revealed the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition console and Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition, celebrating 25 years of the Xbox brand with a nostalgic design inspired by the original Xbox console. The announcement was made during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 and forms part of Microsoft’s broader anniversary celebrations.

The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition features a striking translucent OG Green finish, paying tribute to the iconic look of the original Xbox hardware released in 2001. While the internal specifications remain unchanged from the standard Xbox Series X, including 1TB of storage, the anniversary model introduces several exclusive visual touches aimed at longtime Xbox fans and collectors.

Among the standout features is a green-illuminated Xbox logo on the front of the console, along with a commemorative 25th Anniversary emblem and additional hidden design details scattered throughout the system. Microsoft says these elements were included as a thank-you to the Xbox community that has supported the platform over the past quarter-century.

Accompanying the console is the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition, which also adopts the translucent green aesthetic. The controller includes the original colored ABXY face buttons and pays homage to the classic “Duke” controller with bumper designs inspired by the original black and white buttons. A transparent rear shell and battery cover reveal a classic Xbox logo hidden inside the controller.

Microsoft confirmed that the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition and matching controller will launch in November 2026 in select markets. The controller will also be available as a standalone purchase, although pricing and pre-order details have not yet been announced.

The anniversary hardware arrives as Xbox marks its 25th year in the gaming industry, celebrating a legacy that began with the launch of the original Xbox console in 2001 and continues today across consoles, PC, cloud gaming, and Game Pass services.
