Dryer Box May Help Salvage Water-damaged Mobile Phones
August 10, 2010 – 11:09 am
We’ve all heard of (or experienced) mobile phones going to heaven early due to it being dropped into a pool of water, and now JMC Risk Solutions has installed a number of interesting Dryer Boxes in Tokyo Japan. This device allows users to drop their water-damaged phone into it for 30 minutes, and everything should be hunky dory again. The charge is 1000 Yen ($12), and users won’t even be charged if it doesn’t work, so it sounds like it’s worth a try if you do accidentally get your phone wet. It would probably work on most other gadgets too. Of course, it’s also common advice to try putting your wet mobile phone into a bag of rice, but it’s nice to have different options, and maybe JMC Risk Solutions will set up a few of these dryers stateside.

It works. I've fixed a phone that was dropped in the water by leaving it in front of the heater for a couple of hours.
